Journal Entry # 3: MY STRONGEST SOCIAL INTEGRATION

Image
Grade 10-Wisdom (A.Y. 2018-2019) I consider those people seen on the image above as my greatest social integration. Maybe it's because of the fact that some of these people were my classmates since Pre-Elementary up to Grade 10, while others were my classmates since entering high school. But I know it's more than that; more than just a bunch of students competing to become top of the class. They changed the way I view a typical classroom: to be a battleground of students seeking triumph over the rest. That's how I see a classroom back then and that probably was the reason why I had little or no friends at all. But that perspective changed as years of being with them go by. This group I belong to have shaped my perspective in life; that it is not about competing but helping each other.  I am a witness of how these persons showed care, concern, and love towards each other. We viewed each other not only as classmates but also as siblings (family members). Each one of us ful

Journal Entry # 2: SENSE EXPERIENCE

Image
What I saw: scratch paper yellow pad ballpen eraser cellphone laptop learning materials (lectures, notes, etc.) What I heard: quarreling of the neighbors old music from the radio What I smelled: food being cooked from the kitchen gasoline What I tasted: my snack A Short Reflection It feels like a million bucks to have this opportunity to just sit for a while and reflect on myself despite a challenging day ahead! Aside from that, I have come to a deeper realization regarding the self in relation to the ideas of John Locke and Immanuel Kant. A Piece of Paper There is a piece of paper on the left side of my desk which I used as a scratch paper for taking notes. Of course, it has erasures

Image
Plato's Allegory of the Chariot representing the 3 elements of the psyche As seen on the image, there is a charioteer guiding two horses - black and white. Representing the appetitive is the  black horse ; all things that give us physical satisfaction, fulfillment of our desires, and pleasure go under here. On the other hand, the spirited , as depicted by the white horse ,   fights back at the appetitive so things could no go out of hand; it controls the appetitive. The  charioteer  represents the mind - the most superior of the three. Its role is to moderate the affairs between the appetitive and spirited.  Remember that the appetitive and spirited should not overpower each other; too much of everything really is pretty bad.  The Three Elements' Roles in my Personal Struggle I would like to share with you a personal struggle I once had and how Plato's Three Elements of the Psyche played their roles.  It happened years ago during my Junior High School years.
